Prayer Vigil For Martyrs and the Injured

Participation in a Prayer Vigil & Present Condolences For the Coptic Orthodox Martyrs and the Injured in the Explosion of St Peter’s Coptic Orthodox Church – Abbassia – Egypt Tuesday 13 December 2016 from 4:00PM – 7:00PM

“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.” (Matthew 5:11)

We are deeply saddened by the recent atrocities and barbaric act that took place on Sunday morning 11 December 2016 during the Holy Mass in the explosion that hit St Peter’s Coptic Orthodox Church next to the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbassia – Egypt which resulted in killing 25 people and 49 inuured in the blast. These attacks on our churches and killing of innocent people are unprecedented. We condemn these actions which stand against the basic notions of freedom of religion, morals, and human rights.

In light of this Sad Event the Coptic Orthodox Church - Diocese of Sydney & Affiliated Regions will be organizing a Vigil Prayer as a message that all
Christian are in mourning and are praying for the loss of life of the martyrs in Egypt and to show solidarity and support to our Mother Church in Egypt under
the guidance of HH Pope Tawadros II.

All of us will attend to support in sharing the grief of all the Christians at a global level so that we may pray in one voice and stand in solidarity with our brethren
all over the world. I kindly ask you to join our congregation in Sydney in attending this Prayer Vigil.

We all pray with one voice asking and pleading with God to deliver us from all evil for all Churches around the world.

We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the martyrs who gave their lives for their belief. We pray God the Almighty for the repose of their souls. We have full faith that the Lord will guide the world to a better future filled with justice and peace.

Together with all the congregation of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Sydney, we wish to welcome you to this Prayer Vigil .

Following the Prayer, the Coptic Orthodox Church – Diocese of Sydney will accept the Condolences on the Coptic Martyrs. From 7:00 – 9:00 PM.

Then together with the congregation HG Bishop Daniel and the Reverend Fathers will pray the midnight prayers and tasbeha from 9:00 – 11:00pm.
